Take 'Out' from The Barrow House in Egerton this Winter

10th November 2017

The Barrow House in Egerton has just celebrated it’s first Birthday – this relatively new pub in the idyllic Kent countryside is run by the same team behind The Milk House in Sissinghurst. Recently awarded a Michelin accreditation and thrilled to be included in the Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Stay’ top 100 British hotels in the ‘Posh Pubs’ category, they have launched a new Winter Take Out offer. Their pizza oven goes into hibernation in the Winter, so to satisfy their Take Out customers they have come up with a classic Take Out option. Their renowned homemade Burgers and Fish and Chips are now available to Take Away – 7 days a week, 12pm to 8pm. To launch this new Take Out option 3500 flyers have been dropped in the neighbouring villages, and there are a lucky 500 people who have a ‘Lucky and Local’ stamp, which entitles them to 10% off their first order.

Dane Allchorne, owner and executive head chef, says: 'We realise that in the Winter sometimes curling up on the sofa is good for the soul, homemade burgers and fresh fish & chips from the comfort of your own home taste even better .... and the real bonus is there is no washing up, so get out, check out, take out!'

The Barrow House is a pub in idyllic Egerton, a village known for its thriving community spirit as much as its magnificent views across the Weald of Kent, picturesque cottages and local history. Previously known as The George, the inn was originally built in 1576 using timbers from sailing ships and traditional cob and straw plaster, which remain behind the 17th century timber frame, weatherboards and Kent peg tiles. The Barrow House prides itself on its food and whether you fancy a quick snack, a light lunch or dinner with friends and family, there's something for everyone on the menu. To wash it all down there are local beers, cask ales and a wide selection of wines by the glass. Upstairs there are three beautiful bedrooms, all with luxurious en suite bathrooms and enormous beds to ensure the most comfortable overnight stay or relaxing weekend getaway. Each room has a distinct personality, but they share in common space and light with large windows looking onto the village and valley.
