First -class hosts Anne and Barry have been the proud owners of the Jolly Drover for 16 years and work hard to maintain the authentic features and a jolly banter.
There are various public areas decorated in either muted terracotta or pale ochre, including two dining areas, one of which opens on to a sheltered terrace with teak furniture and a lawn beyond. The carpeted low-beamed bar has leather tub chairs and a couple of comfy sofas in front of an inglenook log fire. Well stocked, the bar includes local beers - Bowman Swift One, Fullers London Pride and Sharps Doom Bar on hand pump - and a great selection of wines. Wonderful home-cooked pub food is all freshly prepared from the best of local produce where ever possible. ‘Sweet Meetings’ are a feature at the Jolly Drover; held the first Monday of each month they include a smaller main meal, followed by six home-made deserts.
The neat letting bedrooms are housed in a recent barn conversion separate from the main building. Spotlessly clean, they are appointed with locally crafted furniture and fully equipped to provide an excellent level of comfort, including hypoallergenic bedding and trouser press and ironing board, and are well stocked with in-room refreshments. All rooms are designed to create family accommodation if required. Security lighting has been installed for added safety both internally and externally.
